The past weekend marked my first race of the season, a 30 mile handicap race. I hadn’t even planned on racing much this year but my partner Carl was racing and I fancied having a go. Handicap racing is great because its really inclusive, the dynamics are different to your usual road racing. Its more about team work to either stay away from the group behind or working together to catch the group ahead. My aim is always just to hang in as much as possible and to finish, which I did! Some more fitness needed now to hang in a little longer, some work to maybe get into shape but all to fulfill my main aim of enjoying cycling again in 2020.
