Polaris Bikewear: Vela Race Jersey and Shorts

3-819x350

We’re always on the look out for good  quality female specific kit and earlier this year we were really glad to come across the range offered by Polaris Bikewear.

The kit being reviewed here is the Vela Race Jersey and shorts which also has matching gloves and socks. At Love Velo we only ever want to give accurate reviews and if we come across something that we love we want to make it known. Some of you may have read about Greer through our rider profile series ,who has very kindly road tested this kit for us. We wanted to do something different to review it and so very the talented film maker Joe Hawkins has created the below clip for us.

The Polaris range offers good quality kit without an excessive price tag. The shorts retail at £54.99 and jersey at £49.99. The matching mitt gloves are priced at £14.99 and Polaris also offer the matching sport socks at £12.99 for a pack of two. Together as a matching set it looks great, we love the colours on offer. The kit worn by Greer is the white / green / duck egg blue but also in the range is a black / purple / pink mix. Pink is often a hot topic within the world of womens cycling but I really feel the colours offered have been really well thought out by Polaris, the pink is more of a berry colour than a really girly pink.

The only improvement we felt we would like to make was for the gloves, which would be better if they had a Velcro fastening, rather than the pull on style that these were. Whilst they were comfortable when riding, they did come up a little bit small and also were difficult to get off riding.

I think Polaris have done a really good job also of really thinking about what works for a female rider. Both the jersey and shorts are cut in a way so as to flatter the female figure. The shorts also have a really well made band to sit on the leg which flatters and sits nicely rather than digging into the leg. The materials of both items feel of a great quality and having tested on the road on a 50 mile ride, with rolling Leicestershire hills, it was nicely breathable too.

It’s a kit that is not just functional but looks good too, fits well and is comfortable. We love it and will definitely be looking forward to their new winter range to see what is available. For more information visit the Polaris website.
