Earlier this year in February I went on a long weekend getaway to Lanzarote. In the middle of British winter it was to be a chance to get some sunshine, get some miles in and spend a little time with my two friends Dee and Patrice. Lanzarote didn’t disappoint, the weather was lovely being around 20 degrees although it is windy in Lanzarote! This is great when there is a tail wind, but the head winds can be challenging. The sweetener is the super smooth road surfaces and wide open landscapes to look at! If you’re looking for a destination for a cycling trip, consider Lanzarote. Bike hire is widely available and it’s a mecca for cyclists and triathletes. The cars are also incredibly accommodating for cyclists.
The island offered a mixture of flatter sections, steady climbs, some larger climbs, stunning views and it’s just so nice be on two wheels by the coast. We had a great time!
